Happy New Year!

New Year, New You? Time to get rid of that nonsense ​and bring back the Real YOU, just with better choices. Every new year we all start to reflect and think about what changes we need to make in order to have a better year. New Years resolutions come and go before we even have a chance to try. It is overwhelming to try and change numerous habits we've had for years at the drop of a hat. Here's how we fix that; baby steps. Regardless of your goals, whether it be health and fitness or money management and organization. If we make small changes over time, we can sustain these changes a lot longer than if we try to change everything at once. When we become overwhelmed or spread too thin we are way more likely to give up. Find your goals and take that next step towards achieving that goal. Once you conquer that step, move on to the next. Yes it will take time. But if it takes a year to accomplish that goal, you are still a lot closer to the finish line than if you were to give up come February. Mindset is the Key to succeeding in anything you desire and we will be here to help you along the way. This is your year. Make it great.

Warm Up with this Slow-Cooker Turkey Quinoa Chili

INGREDIENTS

10 Min Prep ​Serves 6 

 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil

 1 pound lean ground turkey

 1 large yellow onion — chopped

 1 teaspoon kosher salt

 1 teaspoon garlic powder

 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

 1 tablespoon chili powder

 2 teaspoons chipotle chili pepper

 2 teaspoons cumin

 3 small sweet potatoes — (or 2 large) peeled and diced (about 1 pound)

 1 cup uncooked quinoa

 1 can crushed tomatoes — (28 ounces)

 1 can black beans — (15 ounces) rinsed and drained

 1 can beer — (12 ounces) I used an IPA; any dark or amber beer would
be great too!

 2-3 cups low-sodium chicken stock

 For serving: cilantro — avocado, shredded cheese, tortilla chips, and
sour cream or plain Greek yogurt

TIPS:  Use 6 Quart Slow Cooker. If you are doubling the recipe, it will not fit.​
